Alternative Processes
Gel-Medium Transfer
As my first Alternative process I chose to transfer a photo I took a few years ago onto wood. After I transferred it to the wood I sanded the off the corners of the photo to create a rough edge around the image. All of the scratches and holes in the ink caused by the washing process add to the damaged look. The Monarch butterfly is a symbol of life, and hope, I felt that adding the rough and faded look would give the meaning of life and hope another layer of complexity which is why I chose this style over a simple clean rectangle.
Gel-Medium Transfer V2
This photo really means a lot to me, I took it about a year ago when I was visiting family. My cousins then 4 month old baby grabbed my finger while I was playing with her, I managed to capture this moment using only one hand since the baby had grabbed my other hand.
Multiple Exposure
"Lost in the forest of life" I chose to do a multiple exposure for my second alternative process. The photo is a combination of images taken as Nathaniel climbed up a tree. Since the shadows are so strong they came out really dark and crisp in the photo making Nathaniel almost disappear. The caption refers to Nathaniel disappearing as if he was lost in life, with each branch representing an experience or memory.
Photo-gram
To create this photo-gram I cut and layered lines paper to create a camera, I layered a sheet of lined paper that says "I'm fine" over top the camera. The meaning behind this image is how I see myself as mad photographer (sometimes), someone who comes across as normal but is crazy about their art and would do almost anything for the perfect picture.
